The ultra light solar module, which uses NASA technology, powers the radio even on cloudy days, and sends extra power to the included memory-free NiMh battery. The battery will operate the radio for 20 hours on a full charge.
The included battery is a standard AAA NiMh rechargeable, and is easy to replace. The radio will operate even under partial sun, or overcast conditions, but will keep the battery fully charged under full-sun, allowing you to listen long after the sun goes down.
